About

It ALL Started With Chickens!

That's right CHICKENS! We wanted some beautiful BLUE EGGS! Spring 2020 brought many changes for all of us. We decided to take advantage of being home and welcomed 10 baby chicks into our home... yes, right in our house. We had no coop built but it was certainly on the To Do List. My girls and I would cuddle with them on the couch while watching a show. It's true, the love you put into something will be returned ten-fold. These little chicks changed our world.

Our Boxer loved being with them just as much. Her nurturing qualities kicked in and she did not leave their side for at least two weeks. The cat also learned that these little chicks were not food and kept his distance after getting pecked a few times. Now they all get along so well!

Chickens became our gateway animal! We then welcomed two Flemish Giant Rabbits. In 2021 we welcomed our Juliana Pig, Rooty-Tooty and also our guardian Great Pyrenees, Tundra. In 2023 the kids wanted a horse... and being a former horse owner I knew this was NOT going to be a little expense. So I told them if they started a successful business and would work to pay for its keep then I would be game. They worked really hard and started selling bags of dehydrated fruit, baked goods, potpourri and saved up for their very own Gypsy Cob horse from River Lane Ranch. I wanted to take this opportunity to teach my girls how to grow our own food, how to care for farm animals and the labour that's involved in doing so. We started canning our own food making jam, pickles and beets. We started making our own Amish bread as well. My girls are learning to live off the little land we do have and make the most of our little homestead.

After the second Covid lockdown was enforced in Ontario, I knew a second source of income was required as my cleaning biz was hit hard. I decided to try leather working however I was fearful as I had not picked up a pencil to sketch in over 10 years! When my oldest was a baby I had drawn a tattoo representing her name, but that was the last time I had drawn anything. Mom of two for 11 years... TIME.... HA!

So, I prayed! "Lord if this is the road you want me on, revive in me my creative mind and hands and let Your will be done" After I sketched my first feather, it was clear the path He wanted me to follow. Leather-work is so rewarding and I LOVE IT! This is how Muddy Acre Designs was created. Just goes to show you that all you need is a little FAITH!

In the autumn of 2023 God placed it on my heart to start a Christian Homesteading Planner. I had a few years of digital media design in my saddle bags so I started designing up some pages, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I posted a few pictures on Instagram and got some awesome feed back from fellow homesteaders. This truly has been a labour of love.  I've always enjoyed helping others, lending a hand and this planner is a way to do just that! My prayer is that this planner keeps your homestead organized, brings you peace on your homestead and draws you closer to God and the gospel with every passing day.

Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey!
